Consumer Health Data Notice
This notice is for residents of Washington, Nevada, and other states with consumer health data laws. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
Who this notice is from
Gila Guide is operated by Good Machines LLC. Contact us at support@gilaguide.app.
The short version
The Gila Guide app processes your health information on your iPhone to provide the tracking features you ask for. We do not receive those records, we do not sell health information, and we do not use it for advertising. The only health information we may receive is what you choose to put in a support email.
Categories of health data and why they are processed
Health records in the app. Nutrition, protein, fiber, and water logs; symptoms and their severity; medication names, doses, schedules, and dose events; injection sites; optional weight; goals, including goals from your clinician; reminder settings; visit notes; and notes attached to entries. The app uses these only to save, show, summarize, remind, back up, and export your records as you request.
Information derived from your records. Totals, charts, summaries, and recorded comparisons between groups of days. These are calculated on your iPhone to provide Insights, Ask Gila, and clinician PDFs. You can turn recorded comparisons off in You → Recorded comparisons.
Smart Entry and Ask Gila text. What you type or say in Smart Entry and the questions you ask Ask Gila. These are processed on your iPhone to propose entries or answer questions about your records. Ask Gila questions are not saved after you leave the screen.
Support email. If you email us, your message and any attachments may contain health information, even though we ask you not to include it. We use support email only to respond to your request and resolve technical, purchase, or privacy issues.
Where the data comes from
From you, when you enter records, use Smart Entry or Ask Gila, import an encrypted Gila backup, or email us; and from calculations the app performs on your records.
Sharing
We do not share or sell consumer health data. Health records leave your iPhone only when you choose to export an encrypted backup or share a clinician PDF, and you choose the recipient.
Third parties that may receive health data: Google, which hosts our support email, receives any health information you include in an email to us. Apple processes on-device language and speech features on your iPhone and does not receive your Gila records through them. Apple processes App Store purchases but does not receive your health records as part of a purchase. We have no affiliates that receive health data.
Consent
We process health data only as necessary to provide the features you request. If we ever want to collect or share health data for any other purpose, we will ask for your separate consent first, and you will be able to withdraw it.
Your rights
Records in the app are held only on your iPhone, not by us. You can view, export, and delete them directly in Gila, including with You → Delete all local records. The only health information we could hold is what you included in a support email. To ask whether we have any, or to have it deleted, email support@gilaguide.app with “Privacy request” in the subject. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying with “Appeal” in the subject. Response times and the appeal process are described in Your privacy rights. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general, including the Washington Attorney General.
